Obamas Welcome Hollywood Elites, Famous Friends to Presidential Center Opening as Unpaid Subcontractors Claim Millions Owed

https://www.breitbart.com/entertainment/2026/06/18/obamas-welcome-hollywood-elites-famous-friends-to-presidential-center-opening-as-unpaid-subcontractors-claim-millions-owed/

"Former President Barack Hussein Obama and his wife Michelle welcomed a long list of Hollywood celebrities, former president, and world leaders for the grand opening of the Obama Presidential Center in Chicago, even as the Center has been engulfed in controversy for allegedly stiffing many black-owned building contractors for their construction fees."

"But even as Obama waxed poetic about Chicago’s South Side and celebrated “democracy,” his Obama Presidential Center has already become mired in controversy even before opening after a growing number of contractors — many of whom are black-owned businesses — are saying that the Center has not paid them for their construction work.

Construction companies are now reporting that the Center owes them amounts ranging from the tens of thousands to multiple millions in unpaid construction fees. And in the case of many of the black-owned businesses, they face bankruptcy if they don’t get paid soon, Fox News reported."

And annual attendance projected at one million and now totally sold out as far out as you can see. Reagan’s, my other favorite Presidential Library (Simi Valley, CA) is at about half that. No coincidence that those two have been our most upbeat and hopeful presidents, unlike what we are dealing with at present. Have not decided on the design, will decide in September when I visit.

What papers will Trump keep on file for his embarrassing library? Epstein paperwork?

I feel bad just looking at those buildings. Getbiggers, if you aren't familiar with this style and name and you click the link, let me know what you think about it.

EDIT. You know me, I just had to google this LOL. Oh wow. Suspicions confirmed, again.

Quote
AI Overview

The intersection of Brutalist architecture and the Jewish experience spans the profound work of mid-century émigré architects, powerful Holocaust memorials, and modern cinematic explorations. Several Jewish architects pioneered the Brutalist movement, utilizing exposed concrete and geometric forms to express monumentality, memory, and resilience.

"The Brutalist" (2024–2025 Film): Brutalist architecture has also served as a deep metaphor for the Jewish immigrant and Holocaust-survivor experience. The acclaimed film The Brutalist features a fictional Hungarian-Jewish architect named László Tóth who pours his post-war trauma into designing an immense community center in the United States. The character is a composite of real-life architects like Breuer and Goldfinger, reflecting how the psychological weight of survival was poured into concrete structures.

Have only been to a few of the Libraries but here’s my take:

Obama (Chicago) visit upcoming - this will be a winner but the at Star Wars architecture will remain controversial (George Lucas and wife were at opening by the way).

Reagan (Los Angeles, Simi Valley) - a winner. Goosebumps all over the place. “Mr Gorbachev tear down this wall!”

Nixon (Yorba Linda, CA) - a sleeper, much better than I expected. Distance gives some perspective to his accomplishments, and they did not gloss over the rough stuff too badly.

Geoge W. Bush (Dallas) - DULL, and speaking of architecture boring neo- colonial SMU campus blend-in.

Has anybody been to Kennedy (Boston) or Clinton (Arkansas)? Want to see those two.

Very popular in NY in the 60s, 70s. I've always hated it. They're trying to put a kinder face on it now, but it was long considered - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hostile_architecture . They also used it in a lot of government buildings, as it conveyed that it was a serious place, and made visitors want to leave after their business, rather than staying, and using up resources.

I have been to both the Reagan and Nixon libraries.  When I went to the Reagan library years ago it was, very heavy on the fall of communism.  As if he were single-handedly responsible.  And had some of Nancy’s dresses.

I liked the Nixon library much better than the Reagan.  Smaller, way more interesting.  Looked for the pardon; never saw it.

Someday I’d like to get to the Obama library.

I’d die on pile of garbage before I’d set foot in Orange Turd’s library, if he ever has one.  Hopefully his only library will be the one inside a minimum security federal prison.

With Reagan, of course it was not single handed. But he played a huge role. It took a vision on both sides and a  readiness in the satellite nations (those leaders were a huge factor too). Reagan went to Moscow not long after the transition. He was very appreciated there too.

It’s a digitized collection, no actual paper documents are kept there.  Notice how they call it “The Obama Presidential Center”.

The man is so full of himself that writing THREE biographies wasn’t enough, he had to pave over a public park to build a massive building dedicated to himself.

I actually try to picture what it would be, and nothing comes to mind. Maybe he’ll have the wisdom to just skip it or claim it’s under renovation like the Kennedy Center. Or turn Mar-A-Lago into a historical structure and sell tickets, which I would visit. I like that building as you round that corner in Palm Beach.

Ha, I just noticed that. It's the same design as our postage stamps in the 80s, 90s. Great looking plane though.

Trump and Eisenhower have/had the best looking aircraft in my estimation -

Ha, I just noticed that. It's the same design as our postage stamps in the 80s, 90s. Great looking plane though.

Trump and Eisenhower have/had the best looking aircraft in my estimation -

(https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/a/a8/Lockheed_Constellation_Columbine_II_during_President_Eisenhower%27s_visit_to_Bermuda_for_the_December_1953_Western_Summit.jpg/960px-Lockheed_Constellation_Columbine_II_during_President_Eisenhower%27s_visit_to_Bermuda_for_the_December_1953_Western_Summit.jpg).

Eisenhower's Lockheed Constellation.

Trump even mentioned the wave in a comment :D

That plane looks real badass. Could you say very masculine and tough? That one I would prefer for sure. Even the colors look great in that sunlight. Trump is more for glitz and glamour and shiny things, which is fine. My dream car would be matte black or gun black :D

how many people actually use a library anymore.

With the immigration the youth went into them and caused a daily ruckus when as a kid we used to whisper in them. They also thought they were great places to deal drugs from.

It is a fantastic looking plane don't you think, with superb livery. Much better than the baby blue from the Kennedy era:

https://www.twz.com/air/new-air-force-vc-25b-bridge-jet-has-joined-the-presidential-airlift-group

I'm surprised it wasn't a Democrat who commissioned the new Air Force One.  The GENx engines one the new airplane are way more fuel efficient than the CF6 engines of the old aircraft.  The CF6 first flew in 1971 on the DC-10, that's compared to the first first GEnx that flew in 2009 on the 787.

I personally think a 787 or 777X would have been a better starting point for the Air Force One.  You don't start with an aircraft that's been discontinued and replacement parts will be difficult.  You start with an aircraft that many airlines are using and replacement parts are plentiful.  It just shows how unsophisticated government thinking is.

In the past the government would have commissioned a middle of the market carbon fiber aircraft that Boeing could easily convert to a passenger jet afterwards.  Think KC-135 and the 707 or 747 and the military cargo plane it's based on.  Government spending used to drive American innovation and industry.  Like the early orders for integrated circuits from NASA rockets that launched a whole semiconductor industry.  I don't see any modern examples of this.

I don't know about the spare parts or what their thinking is but I remember reading getting it ready was extremely expensive. I assume they gutted it first to make sure there was no spyware installed anywhere.

Yes I would imagine everything is scrutinised thoroughly
Readily available spare parts could mean a security risk so I'm willing to bet there's specially made pieces.

What a colossal waste of money. how many people actually use a library anymore. spend the money to help the good people of the united states. Just put a small free library up as pic'd below.

You don’t read books?  ???

For books:
Best selection is Amazon, but I’m sick of the whole planet running on Amazon
Next best is good libraries, but most local libraries not so good, just the big city libraries and you generally need to prove exact residence inside those city limits
Book stores really not so good.

And forget those Good Samaritan exhange boxes in front of peoples’ houses, never anything I want to read.

No time - He watches immeasurable hours of leftist youtube videos the algorithm selects for him.

As far as the library goes - doesn't bother me - all Presidents should have something like this.

I learned English through muscle books. True story. In English class at school I went from worst to best in a hurry :D

You don’t read books?  ???

Who does these days? Even my book reading has fallen off, used to be a voracious reader, still keep a big book shelf. I do read articles and essays on the net but even that is too slow and boring for the younger generations. All about quick dopamine hits from Tik Toks, YT shorts and IG reels.

There’s a balance. The TikTok muscle clips are great! But so is an 800 page novel on a quiet day.
I really only looked at the photos (and I guess some of the gossip) in the muscle mags. So many of you dudes really dug into the training, nutrition, all of those good for language building but to me those were boring and I doubt the quality of a lot of them.. Back in the day, I did see Muscle Mags in other languages while traveling,

I like Archive.org - https://archive.org/ (https://archive.org/).

Just a huge, decentralized library that you can read with an internet connection. I wish libraries would throw more time and effort into it, and they had an easier time with copywrite laws, etc......

A four engined plane is safer
Air Force One not only represents the president, but also the country. 777 and 787 are smaller and less representative for the role of Air Force One

More information on how L3Harris got the job done in just 10 months:

While managed-by-arrogant-retards Boeing is still working on the new presidential planes since signing the contract in 2017. Boeing now expects to deliver the two VC-25B planes in 2027. Also billions over budget, as usual with such defence contractors

Four engine planes are done.  The A380 and 747 are both out of production, so there are no four engine commercial airplanes.  The 787 would have been the best choice in terms of cost, but it's all on the tax payers dime, so what do they care.  There's no reason the 787 can't "represent the country".

It's almost like the government should get consulting with the the American airlines to see how to do this.  United and Delta could tell you exactly what the government is doing wrong.

You have given up your ability to pay attention too long and that means there are some things you can no longer understand.

You need to build that muscle back up.

Bunch of ODS, obama derangement syndrome. Guys melting down about a library opening like every other living president.

I bet Obama hired a guy to do it using tax payer money who previously was arrested for bribery and who got it on a no bid contract.

It’s not a presidential library, it’s a presidential center.  Unlike other former presidents, there are no papers, records, collections or other historical materials stored there.  Everything’s been digitized.

Also, I don’t recall any other former presidents paving over a public park designed by Frederick Law Olmstead in order to make their presidential libraries.

At least it was free to the people of Chicago.

Quote
The Obama Foundation and its public materials state the Obama Presidential Center’s construction and museum will be privately funded and managed by the Foundation [1][2]; however, substantial public infrastructure and related costs tied to the project have been paid by Chicago and Illinois taxpayers, including at least $123.3 million in CDOT capital spending and larger line items in the city’s capital plan [3][4]. Reporting and filings show the center’s building costs are covered by donor contributions while public agencies have financed roads, parks and other municipal improvements around the campus, provoking debate about what “taxpayer-funded” means in practice [5][6].

Whats the difference between digitized vs paper? why would that matter for this. It is tech a center, library, museum and some other shit. it's the equivalent of the bush center.

Bush also has a center, so I don't get your point there either. It's called the bush presidential center and houses the library and museum etc

I use it to read current popular articles behind pay walls, though I read outlets have taken some kind of actions preventing that lately.
