In all seriousness Arnold says no one knew he was entering the 1980 Olympia... Although must of competitors say they did know
Best part of interview when Arnold says, ' If Dickerson would have won, he was the one who took second right?" (Like he's not even sure LOl ...goes to show you he needs to log in to Getbig more often.
Mike Mentzer was complaining running around he should have won, he placed fifth !!! Frank Zane was 3rd so none of them could have won and lucky for Arnold is not like there was a Sergio Oliva caliber bodybuilder he should worry about , his owm words! and I totally agree with that
Woosshhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh 10 4 80
Yeah, that was hilarious. He talks about them whining and being jealous. That bit about earning jealousy but anyone can be pitied was good. It was funny too that he had to ask about Dickersons place. He didn't concern himself with the drama, just took the sandow and went back to Hollywood.
And he's right, he is correct that he had moved on to bigger things, fame and fortune and for him to come out of nowhere and take to title it was a lot of jealousy. And the money certainly was an issue. The year or 2 earlier they tried to form a union and it was something that went from a few dozen pros and a handful of shows and only training for a show, to dozens maybe even 100 pro bodybuilders and dozens of shows, grand prix shows etc and training year round. The money had to be important. He did all this shit then took the title and money. That level of bitterness stemmed from jealousy. They still would've been pissed if he didn't enter and Dickerson won, but they would've gotten over it eventually. The level of outrage was rooted in jealousy. There have always been debated shows. Mentzer was pissed when he lost to Szkalak and he.was pissed when he lost to Zane but to throw a 20 year temper tantrum. Is rooted in deeper feelings beyond judging.
