I don't think he could ever beat Lee Haney.
He was as narrow as Phil Cheath
He lacked quad sweep
Weak lat width
Ofcourse he had amazing chest, sick arms as a whole, beautiful calves, crazy traps and good midsection.
So he was a worthy champion but no Mr. O material.
Not to forget that he couldn't pose to save his life.
Not even close. Ronnie had a more narrow shoulder structure than Bertil. You obviously don't want to be narrow but you don't want to be too structural wide as well. You get that coat hanger look. Bertil was just right.
And you make the mistake of judging by today's standards. Nobody thought that his legs were weak in any way during that era. The balloon-like thighs were very rare in those days with a few like Platz and Jeff King. Bertil's quads were just right for that era. Just like Haney but Fox had better calves.
Again, I wasn't saying that he should have beat Samir, but 5th? No way.
